Are all Rf-Technologies' fire dampers fire resistant? Our fire dampers stop the fire in ventilation ducts for a certain period. If the fire comes from outside the ventilation duct on which the damper is installed, the fire cannot enter the ventilation duct during the fire resistance of the damper. The functioning of the operating mechanism will neither be negatively influenced by fire coming from outside the damper. For safety reasons it is however strongly advised to renew the fire dampers if they have been in contact with external fire. Are intermediate sizes possible and where can I find prices for this? Intermediate sizes of our products are available on request and on an additional cost. You can find the prices for these intermediate sizes on the introductory pages of our catalogue (page XII). Can a fire damper be turned?  All Rf-Technologies' fire dampers can be placed with the position of the blade horizontal as well as vertical. Can a grill be turned 90°? NO. The lamellas with the intumescent material are positioned horizontally. No test report is available for installations with the lamellas positioned vertically. Can I use 1 MG2-A for a fire resistance of 30'? NO. The test report describes 2 mounted fire resistant collars for 1 hour. No certificate is available for 1 mounted fire resistant collar for 30 minutes. Do fire dampers always have to be replaced after a fire? Yes. The intumescent parts of a fire damper cannot be returned to their original condition. Do fire dampers need to be replaced after a fire? Yes. The intumescent parts of the fire damper cannot be brought back to their original condition, therefore a fire damper needs to be replaced after a fire. Do I have to replace the thermo-electric fuse of an actuator if the damper has been closed as a result of a temperature higher than 72° in the ventilation duct? If the temperature in the air duct exceeds 72°C, the thermo-electric fuse interrupts the supply voltage and the blade closes. The fuse needs to be replaced, but the motor itself will continue to function normally. The fuse can be easily replaced with a kit (e.g. Z-BAE for the B(L)FT motor). Does Rf-Technologies also dispose of circular fire dampers with diameter larger than 630mm? The biggest dimension available of our circular fire damper CR2 is 630 mm. For connection to a larger diameter, we advise you a prolonged CU2 (CU2L) damper with circular connection (PR). Does Rf-Technologies dispose of dampers for areas with special requirements? Rf-Technologies has many dampers, which can be applied in areas with special requirements:
  • the CK2 damper is a damper for areas with high working temperatures as it can be equipped with a fusible link, which melts only if the temperature in the ventilation duct exceeds 100° C or 140°C
  • an anti-corrosive paint layer for areas with corrosive fumes, acids or humidity (for example swimming pools)
  • explosion proof operating motors (ATEX certified) for areas with high explosion risks
  • the CU2-15 damper for areas with high ambient pressures up to 1500 Pa
How can I reopen a fire damper with servomotor? You can reopen a fire damper with servomotor by interrupting the supply voltage for at least 10 s and then by connecting it again (respect the given voltage) for at least 180 s (DB) /140s (BF) /75s (BLF). The movement of the motor stops automatically when the end of range (open blade) is reached. It takes about 75 s to rearm the blade. How many mechanics does a battery assembly have? A battery assembly is a composition of multiple fire dampers with a maximum of 4 to 6 individual dampers. A battery assembly is the solution for big installations if the existing fire dampers are not big enough. Every individual damper has its mechanic. All mechanics of a battery assembly are of the same kind.  How to make a smoke evacuation duct fire-resistant? With an evacuation duct of an extractor one needs to take into account the high operating temperatures. It is very important to place a good filter for the evacuation duct of the extractor to avoid pollution of the evacuation duct. Our solution for environments dealing with high operating temperatures like evacuation ducts for extractors is the CK2 damper. This damper disposes of a fusible link only melting at a temperature of 100° or 140°C Is BAP fire resistant foam sufficient for fire resistant sealing? The fire resistant foam BAP can be used to seal off expansion joints in conformity with the installation specificiations. However, no test report is available for the sealing of fire dampers or fire resistant collars. What is a SC0? The SC0 is a flame protection product, which meets the European E and S criteria but not the I criterion (thermal insulation). It prevents the dispersion of flames and smoke during at least 120 minutes. See our glossary for the definitions of E I S criteria. What is the ideal velocity in a fire damper? The ideal velocity in a fire damper is 4 to 5 m/s. The higher the velocity, the higher the noise produced. What is the ideal velocity in a grill? Grills are appropriate for natural ventilation. The ideal velocity in a grill is 1 to 2 m/s. Where can I find the dimensions of the incorporation opening of your products?  You can find the incorporation size for every product in our catalogue, category 'installation' which you can find with every product, or in the detailed product brochure beneath the online product description. Where can I find the electric installation diagrams for the servomotors? You can find the electric installation diagrams in the installation prescriptions delivered with every product, or in our detailed product brochure.     You have kits with fusible links of 100° or 140°. Can I put these on a common fire damper? NO. The kit with fusible links of 100° or 140° can only be placed on a CK2 fire damper, since only this type of fire damper is adjusted to environments with high operating temperatures.
