Compartmentalisation

Compartmentalisation is the concept of dividing a large building into different compartments to diminish the risk of fire propagation and smoke development.
The aim is, in case of fire, to restrict the fire to one compartment and to avoid the fire from spreading to adjacent compartments.

The compartment borders exist of vertical or horizontal walls, which halt the fire for a certain period (“fire resistance”). These walls are crossed by ventilation, heating and air ducts (the so called “technical installations”).

The places where these technical installations cross the walls are a weak spot concerning the fire resistance of the wall. The installation of fire dampers in ducts there where they cross the walls or the fire resistant sealing of these ducts guarantee the preservation of the compartment borders.

Rf-Technologies
offers a wide range of solutions to compartmentalisation: fire resistant dampers, damper cartridges, collars and sealing material.
