Compartmentation

Compartmentation divides a large building into different compartments to decrease the risk of fire propagation and smoke development. The aim is, in case of fire, to restrict the fire to one compartment and to avoid the fire from spreading to adjacent compartments.

The compartment borders consist of vertical and horizontal walls, which stop the fire for a certain period of time (“fire resistance”). These walls are penetrated by ventilation and sanitary ducts as well as electric cables (the so called “technical installations”).

The places where these technical installations cross the walls are a weak spot for the fire resistance of the wall. The installation of compartmentation solutions restores the fire resistance grade of the penetrated walls.

Rf-Technologies
offers a wide range of compartmentation solutions:
  • Mechanical ventilation: fire dampers and fire damper cartridges
  • Natural ventilation: fire resistant transfer grills
  • Pressure-free flammable pipes: fire resistant collars
  • Other wall penetrations: fire resistant sealing material
