The Construction Products Directive 89/106/EEC covers a wide range of
products requiring fire resistance testing in order to be CE marked. But CE marking by itself doesn’t mean that a product is
fire resistant for the intended use, i.e. that it has achieved fire resistance classifications in all types of walls and with any kind of sealing.
In conclusion, correctly specifying and installing passive fire protection products remains fundamental to fire safety in buildings. Even after the CE marking has become effective, one must
verify the product’s fire resistance rating for the specific wall types envisaged for a construction site. This information can be found for our CE marked products in the
classification overview on our website.
