Transparency

CE marking includes technical information in the form of declared values. Hence it is in effect a harmonised technical data sheet. Together with the standard, it gives all the information needed by regulators and actors on the construction market to judge whether the product is suitable for a particular intended use in the country in which it is sold, according to the regulations which apply there.

Safety

Uniform assessment methods of the performance of construction products have been compiled in European product standards, for instance the EN 15650:2010 product standard for fire dampers. Fire dampers are evaluated against strict criteria that relate to fire resistance, durability and aeraulic performance. Notified bodies are involved in the certification process, which further validates the certification process.
