Actuated by a fusible link, the SC+ damper consists of a short metal tunnel, two semi-circular damper blades with a layer of intumescent material on both sides, an intumescent strip around the tunnel and a rubber tightening ring. This ring holds the damper in place in the duct. The product is available in a range of diameters and fire-resistance grades; a finishing ventilation valve is optionally available.

Operation with simple fusible link

The SC+ damper is equipped with a fusible link that unlatches the blades, closing the damper as soon as the temperature in the duct exceeds 72°C. Two blocking hooks then keep the damper blades in their closed position, preventing any smoke or flames from passing through. An optional end-of-range switch can be added at any time to give an indication of the damper blade's status (open or closed). The SC+ range cannot be equipped with a mechanism to control the blade operation or re-arm it: any necessary modification involves a manual intervention in the ventilation duct.

Benefits at a glance

The SC+ is extremely easy to install in a circular duct: it is simply inserted in the duct with the damper blade closed in the middle of the wall. It can be installed with the axis in horizontal or vertical position and the air can flow through the duct in any direction. Its light weight, its pricing model, and the increased free air passage compared to a standard fire-damper all make this an interesting solution for small diameters. The SC+ range is additionally available out of stock, which guarantees a fast delivery.

Field of application

The SC+ range is a smart solution with obvious benefits and it has been tested according to the European standard EN 1366-2. The rated fire resistance for the various available versions is posted on our website.

The absence of a mechanism to re-arm the blade however can lead to areas of incompatibility with local legislations about fire dampers. The field of application for this solution depends very much on local regulations. In certain countries, its application will be limited to specific locations in a building such as a bathroom or areas without windows; in other regions, it can exclusively be implemented at the end of a ventilation duct; limitations in terms of maximum diameters may also exist, as is the case in Belgium.
