Rf-Technologies, the European specialist in fire dampers, proudly announces that as from january 2010 only airtight fire dampers with a minimal airtightness class B will be produced.
Increasing demand of airtight ventilation ducts
Research has proven that leakages in ventilation ducts and their components have a negative impact on the overall energy performance and the indoor air quality of buildings.
For years, airtightness has been already an important issue in the Scandinavian countries. That’s why airtightness is incorporated in the official requirements for the designing of a building.
An increasing trend towards airtight ventilation ducts can be noticed also in our regions, mainly as the result of economical and environmental considerations. For example in the Netherlands, where for certain types of governmental projects at least airtightness class B is required.
Optimised fire dampers
As fire dampers are part of the ventilation system/ventilation ducts, Rf-Technologies has been working in 2009 intensively on the optimisation of its fire dampers with regard to their airtightness according to the most actual European standard EN 1751.
Small adaptations were made to the fire dampers. Rf-Technlogies also invested in an ultrasensive airtightness testing equipment. The Swedisch laboratory SP, which is accredited as the only laboratory in Europe to conduct airtightness tests, issued a certificate for each damper and supervised the correct calibration of Rf-Technologies measuring equipment.
Guarantee for at least airtightness class B
Those efforts enabled Rf-Technologies to guarantee that as from the beginning of 2010 each produced fire damper obtains at least airtightness class B, whilst fire dampers of other suppliers hardly obtain class A (the classification in airtightness classes starts at A (with a high leakage) and go up to C (very airtight)).
Rf-Technologies can show for each of its fire dampers an SP certificate of at least airtightness class B.
Airtightness class C for specific projects
For special projects with very demanding requirements to the ventilation system and its components, Rf-Technologies guarantees that each ordered fire damper obtains airtightness class C. For this purpose the individual fire damper is subjected to an individual airtightness test with specialised measuring equipment and subsequently receives a report with its testing values.
